Lada

Also known as: Lado

The Slavic goddess of spring, dawn and love, the counterpart of Freyja and Holda; Lyalya is another form of her name.

Lada is the goddess of spring fertility and love. For Afanasyev she is the beautiful maiden of the dawn and of the flowering spring, the Slavic counterpart of Freyja and Holda; in Christian times much of her lore passed to the Virgin Mary. Lyalya (Lelya) of the spring songs is the same goddess.
