Sreća
Also known as: Sreca, Sretya, Sreshta
In Serbian belief, a person's luck as a maiden spinning golden thread for the lucky, and a grey old woman asleep for the unlucky.
In the Serbian tale printed by Karadžić, Sreća ("luck", the Serbian Dolya) is a beautiful maiden spinning golden thread who keeps the lucky brother's sheep, while the unlucky brother's Sreća is a grey old woman asleep in the forest. The lot of each is fixed by Usud. In Serbian songs Sreća and Nesreća (ill luck) meet and struggle. The last sheaf of the harvest, set up in the field on a stick, is also called Sreća.
