Hu Gangzi

A fox immortal of thirty thousand years who punishes a Daoist for killing one of his descendants.

In the story of Zhangsun Jia, a fox posing as the Bodhisattva Manjushri is killed by a Daoist. A second "bodhisattva" then appears, names himself Hu Gangzi, and says he has been an immortal for thirty thousand years. He beats the Daoist for taking life, apologises to the family for his descendant, and promises them protection.
