The Bulgarian maidens of fate, who decree the destiny of a newborn and hide in the green cornfields.
The Bulgarian orisnitsy decree the fate of the newborn. They also watch over the fields: while the corn is still green, the samodivas and the orisnitsy are believed to hide in it. Afanasyev counts them, together with the Serbian Sreća, among the maidens of fate.
